Academic Activities

Physical Education is the education of body and mind through physical activities. It plays an important role in developing a person physically fit, mentally sound and sharp, emotionally balanced and socially well adjusted to cope up with the society and helps a person to be aware of the role of fitness in overall health. On recognising the impact of Physical Education on health, Holy Cross College, Nagercoil, one of the most prestigious educational institutions of Tamil Nadu, gives importance for sports along with academics right from its inception.

To attain health, honour and happiness, the students are motivated to participate in sports. As we have ample facilities to play major games, the students are well trained by specialized coaches along with the Director of Physical Education in outdoor and indoor games and athletic events both in the morning and evening throughout the year. They are given opportunity to participate and excel in sports at International, National, Inter-university, State, University and District level tournaments. Students (individually and collectively) have won medals and awards in the above mentioned various levels of tournaments and come out in flying colours and thus the students add fame to the college, university, state and the country as well. Students who are very good at sports are given seats in our college under sports quota. Free boarding and lodging, tuition fee, exam fee and admission fee concession are given to the national and state level players and also to the selected poor and best players. Extra credits have been awarded for the sports students.
