INTRODUCTION

In 2024, Holy Cross College (Autonomous), Nagercoil, a reputed institution with a rich legacy in education, proudly introduced the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI&DS). This pioneering programme is designed to empower semi-urban women students, equipping them with cutting-edge technological skills to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. The AI&DS department is not just a programme but a gateway to opportunities in the fast-growing domains of technology and data-driven innovation.

VISION

To establish a centre of excellence in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science that promotes innovation, sustainability, and social transformation by developing professionals and leaders with strong ethical values to tackle global issues for a balanced and sustainable future.

 

MISSION

To provide quality education through the use of advanced tools, promote a culture of collaboration, and encourage customer-oriented innovations that bridge academia and industry, making a significant contribution to societal improvement.


OBJECTIVES

After the completion of the Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Course, our students will be able to

ü  To equip students with essential AI, machine learning, and data science skills for real-world problem - solving.

ü  To develop critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to address challenges with AI and data-driven solutions.

ü  To encourage research and innovation in emerging AI technologies like NLP, computer vision, and deep learning.

ü  To provide hands-on experience and industry exposure to prepare students for careers or tech-based ventures.

ü  To foster awareness of ethical AI use, data privacy, and fairness in developing responsible AI systems.

        The Department of Artificial Intelligence & Data Science is dedicated to provide innovative and high-quality technical education at the undergraduate level. The faculty of the department are committed to equip our students with the expertise and proficiency in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, and related fields that are essential to thrive in modern society.

AI and DS have transformed the way we work, communicate, teach, and learn, and entertain ourselves. The Department’s main objective is to provide experiential learning opportunities, including hands-on training, research projects, internships, and project-based courses that prepare students to work in interdisciplinary teams and create the future.

In addition to a state-of-the-art curriculum, the Department places a strong emphasis on enriching the students’ learning experience by offering value-added courses, skill-development programs, and opportunities to participate in technical competitions and hackathons at all levels.

The students and faculty of AI&DS at Holy Cross College believe in working together, encouraging each other, and collaborating across a diverse set of projects, labs, departments, and industry partners.
