DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE SELF FINANCE 1

INTRODUCTION

The Department of Commerce was started in the year 2007 to offer M.Com programme. In 2010 the department was extended to offer B.Com degree under self-financing stream. The courses offered will provide a solid base to pursue professional courses and will also enable students to develop skills and abilities to become competent and competitive contenders in job placements.

 

VISION

To enhance holistic development in students, by giving training in intellectual, psychological, spiritual and social concerns to make them successful women leaders in the society.

 

MISSION

The department stands for identifying and enhancing the potentials and skills of students by providing in-depth knowledge on the subject and to create self-awareness and social consciousness

 

OBJECTIVES

After the completion of the Commerce Coursee, our students will be able to

ü  To inculcate the terms and concepts in commerce field.

ü  To ensure the students to gain knowledge in accounting and management.

ü  To create ideas about research aptitude.

ü  To encourage the students to participate in extension activities there by awareness can be created to pursue a common care.

The Department of Commerce focuses on the multifaceted human resource development of the women students who come to Holy Cross College. The syllabus has been framed keeping in view the academic & professional needs of the students in the era of the country’s increasing integration with the global system of business, finance and technology. The academic programme consists of class room teaching, seminars, interactive sessions, online assignments, projects and internship with firms. The Department has always attempted to impart the most competitive professional training to the students.

Academic Activities

Highlights

Aiswarya of II M.Com and P.R.Ambli Raj of III B.Com won the II Prize in the CM Trophy in the Foot Ball Tournament.

Eco-awareness was gives to the students by way of giving saplings.

The Department gave study materials, sports materials to the Government High School Parvathipuram out of the H.Com (SF) Share amount.

Every year Industrial Visit was arranged for II UG, I PG and II PG students.

In the year 2017-2018 the department released the first newsletter.

In connection with the “Joy of Giving Week”150 lunch parcels were distributed to the patients in Asaripallam medical college, Nagercoil.
