The Department of Economics’ inception dates back to the year 1967 with the commencement of Bachelor degree programme in Economics (B.A). Ever since then, the Department has been a blessing and pride to the institution through its curricular and extracurricular activities. Zealous leaders have been sculpted and cast out to stronghold honour. The Department proffers courses based on knowledge, skill and career-oriented. Our faculty are indeed happy to walk extra mile with the students to enrich them with the knowledge of Economics and human values. Our resolute fraternity of staff serves the Department and institution competently along with the divine intervention of Lord almighty endeavouring for the prosperity of each student.

History of the Department
The Department of Economics is as old as the college itself. Having emerged as an undergraduate Department in 1967, developed as a PG department in 2003, it has now attained the status of a Research Centre. The department has produced many university rank holders in the past decades. The inter disciplinary PG course Business Economics (Self finance) was started in 2003. From 2016 it has been changed to MA Economics. “CROSSNOMICS”, A State level intercollegiate quiz competitions in Economics is a special feature of this department. The department provides opportunities to tap the talents and skills of our students. It promotes entrepreneurial awareness and nurtures social responsibility. It has collaboration with SRAEF, NGO’s and other centers. Conduct of Know Your Economy test is a notable activity.
