Greetings from the Department of Botany.

 

It gives me immense pleasure to lead the Department of Botany. The very motto of our department is to provide quality education. With the constant support of the management, selfless service of the teaching and support staff and cooperation from the student community, the Department strives for excellence in teaching, learning, research and extension activities. The excellent infrastructure; well-equipped laboratories; participation of students in curricular and extracurricular activities; interaction among students, parents, staff  and alumnae along with Career Guidance Cell and all other Associations and Clubs ensure a bright future to our students.

The Department has great dreams and lofty plans which we hope to achieve with the support of the stakeholders and the grace of God. DEPARTMENT OF BOTANY

INTRODUCTION

The Department of Botany was established in 1965, initially with Pre University Course, and in 1966, a three- year Degree Programme of B.Sc Botany with Chemistry and Zoology as the ancillaries was added. The first Principal of the College and pioneering sister, Sr. Emile was the first Head of the Department. P.G. Biotechnology (SF) was introduced in 2003, and the department became a Research Centre in 2009. The Postgraduate course in Botany (SF) was started in 2015. From 2018, the department is offering two value added courses to UG students (Mushroom Culture Technology & Hydroponics). The department has nine efficient and dedicated faculty and 4 support staff who strive to offer the learners holistic development, academic excellence and research orientation.
